Today has been a fairly uneventful day. I recorded some videos of my seven-year-old, Mika for a new series we plan to launch in January on her YouTube channel. Then we walked to school with one of her best friends. My helper came today for laundry and other house cleaning and I managed to get a little client work done in the cracks of the rest of the day. That is my typical Monday schedule on a school day.
This evening is not a typical Monday evening. I participated in a group interview for a compilation journal I will be published in this coming January. This is not my first published work; it is not even my first project of this kind. It is still fun to be involved and it will get my thoughts in front of more people; I am happy to be a part of it.
I have three solo projects published. My first children’s book, Little Baby Poot-Poot, sells reasonably well considering the lack of effort I make in promoting my books. My second children’s book, My Medieval ABCs, does not sell as well, although, oddly enough, I sold three copies of it last month through online retailers. My third solo project is a scrapbook for small-business owners, My Marketing History Book. It had a nice little chunk of sales from online retailers when it was released at the end of August. I was lying in a hospital bed at the time and had not promoted it at all so that was a nice surprise.
I have been in two compilation chapter books. The first book I had a chapter in was The Voyage to Your Vision. The primary thought in that chapter is about accepting and asking for help. The second book I had a chapter in was Ready, Aim, Thrive. The chapter in this book is about starting over when life upsets your cart.
I have been in three compilation journal books; my upcoming project will be number four. The journal books are fun because I only need to write about 75 words. I write an inspiring (hopefully) thought and the reader gets to write about how he or she interprets my words. 100 people would interpret the words 100 ways. That is so fun!
The compilation journal books I have been part of started with My Big Idea Book. My inspirational thought involved divine intervention. My second compilation journal book was My Creative Thoughts. My inspirational thought involved accepting your limitations. My third compilation journal book was Are YOU the Missing Piece? Don’t Leave a Whole in the World. My inspirational thought involved clarifying to yourself why you say no. My upcoming compilation journal book is titled How Big Can You Dream? My inspirational thought involves accepting yourself.
My interview tonight was with 23 of the authors of How Big Can You Dream? and we were chosen in order based on location. The out of country authors were interviewed first because they had different time zones. I was called on around 15th. We were asked to tell a little about ourselves and then say what we hoped readers took away from our inspiring thought. I enjoyed learning about some of the other authors, but I did leave the interview when my turn was over because the interview was interfering with family time.
I am not sure when the interview will be published. I think it will be in January in conjunction with the book release. I am looking forward to listening to the entire interview and getting my copy of the book.
My piece of advice to you is to take opportunities when they are presented. When I received the email about the group interview, I immediately said yes and it was a lot of fun, even if it took an hour of family time.
Until next time,
Susanne
P.S. (written 2-19-2020) The interview is live now and my short clip is around the 48:20 mark.
