You would think, with the world staying at home and since I am on a chemotherapy break, I would have a fair amount of time to kick back and relax. You would be wrong! I feel like I am working non-stop and falling further behind every day. I have at least ten unfinished journal days in March because I keep doing other work instead of writing. Yes, this other work needs to be done, but I need to release my thoughts also instead of bottling them up inside. (Okay, I do not know that I am bottling up thoughts, but I do know I have reached Medium-stress Susanne level. (remember, Medium-stress Susanne is snappy))
Once again, my heavy workload is mostly my fault. I needed to do a lot of work for my own business marketing in March. The work is done, so now I am back to a very light marketing schedule until March next year. One of my clients needed to make a lot of changes in her marketing at the beginning of March and I have not finished catching up with it all. I will stay ahead of her schedule and probably have all the materials updated by the end of April, but I do not like to have a task on my mental to-do list for two months, and that makes me a little stressed.
Another one of my clients is recording a time-sensitive series of ten videos. I am so happy she is doing the videos; I think her content will help a lot of people. Yet, here I am thinking I need to edit at least one of her videos every day for the next week. The video I edited yesterday took me several hours. The editing will get easier as she gets more comfortable in front of the camera; however, since the topic is so immediate, I feel pressured to get it done ASAP. I could edit a video every other day because that is the video posting schedule, but I have this need to finish the task in case a problem arises (like I catch COVID-19).

There are only 12 reading videos left to post on the YouTube channel I created for my seven-year-old, Mika. I told Mika we would start choosing the 52 books for season two of Mika Rocks Reading in April. April is only four days away! I have been spoiled editing Mika’s channel videos lately because I finished recording and editing all the reading videos last November. I simply double-check my editing and post the reading video each week. The videos we have been doing since we finished season one of the reading videos are short and easy to edit. The reading videos are longer and take much longer to edit. Fortunately, we will not start actually recording season two until after Mika’s birthday in May, so I can wait until then to stress.
My blog-reading video volunteers have been rocking it and they are keeping me on my toes, especially now that many of them are able to kick back and relax. I am trying to make sure there are at least ten videos before a person is seen again to keep a nice variety for the viewers. I have two volunteers who have almost caught up with what I have posted to my blog. I frequently make small edits to my journal entry when I post it to my blog. I fix errors and sometimes need to clarify an idea better; I will not send an assignment out until I have programmed it to my blog in case I need to make changes, so now I feel a little stress to get my January and February writings programmed.
If I am spending my Tuesdays programming posts to my blog, I do not have as much time to edit the journal videos. I have been getting at least four videos a week lately. I know my readers will eventually catch up with me because more volunteers keep stepping up, and eventually I will be getting more videos than there are days in the week. I am either behind on my programming, video editing, chasing down the few volunteers that take weeks to record a video, or writing. I feel like I am in a lose-lose situation.
My piece of advice to you is to pick one task at a time and focus on it. I am most stressed about my ten unfinished journal posts, so every day this week I am going to write that day’s post before I start any other work. At the end of the day, I will choose an unfinished post to complete. I do not want to fall farther behind.
Until next time,
Susanne
